Frisco ISD provides full-day kindergarten at all elementary campuses. Access the attendance zone search tool to find the zoned school based on your address. The campus is your best source of information and continued guidance.
To attend kindergarten, students must be 5 or older on or before Sept. 1 of the school year. View the kindergarten qualifications flowchart for additional guidance.
If you move to Frisco ISD during the school year and have a child that turned 5 after Sept. 1, your child may not be eligible to enroll.
Exception: A student younger than 5 years of age as of Sept. 1 may enter kindergarten if they take the third grade reading and math STAAR test and perform in the Approaches Grade Level category on both assessments. Learn about acceleration.
Registration is year-round. Access the online registration page.
New 2026–27 Kindergarten students may begin registering on February 10.
Once your child is fully enrolled and has received a Student ID, you will have two weeks from your enrollment date to submit an in-district transfer request. Visit the In-District Transfer page for details and application instructions.
Children enrolled in Pre-K for the 2025-26 school year are not considered new students and will apply during the Annual Student Registration window that begins April 1, 2026.
New kindergarten students must enroll at their zoned campus unless a transfer request is approved during the annual transfer window. More information can be found at www.friscoisd.org/transfer.
Parents play an essential role in preparing children for a successful beginning in kindergarten.
