Crisis Communications
Frisco ISD uses SchoolMessenger for emergency notifications, school closures and outreach. To ensure you receive alerts, please keep your contact information updated with your child’s campus data clerk.
Communication priorities
In an emergency, the priority is securing the building and informing those directly impacted first. Communication occurs in this order:

Why there may be a delay
The District is aware that students often text parents within seconds of an incident. However, Frisco ISD must verify facts before contacting families or releasing an official statement. This ensures you receive accurate information rather than rumors.

Law enforcement and investigations
In any emergency, FISD partners directly with fire and police officials to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Some information may be held back temporarily if releasing it could hinder law enforcement efforts or affect campus security. Families will receive all appropriate updates as soon as authorities indicate it is safe to release them.
Any specific details regarding an investigation or case are typically shared by local law enforcement once the investigation is complete and it is deemed safe to do so.
Beware of rumors
Misinformation spreads quickly on social media. Please rely only on official channels (Frisco ISD or local police) for facts. The District cannot control what is posted online by community members, but is committed to providing the truth as quickly as possible.
Student privacy
Frisco ISD will not release private student information protected by state law and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The District will not respond to any requests for that information except to reiterate the above. That includes but is not limited to: academic, disciplinary, attendance and health records.
Media inquiries
During a crisis, our focus is on student safety and parent communication. The media should never reach out to the campus directly. Frisco ISD will respond to media inquiries at communications@friscoisd.org after families are informed.
