Graduation FAQ

The last day of school for all high school students will be a virtual asynchronous day. More information will be coming on how attendance will be taken that day.

Each student will receive up to 10 tickets for graduation, which is consistent with what has been offered historically for Frisco ISD graduation ceremonies. Guests age 5 and over require a ticket to enter. Any guest 4 or under who enters without a ticket should sit in their guardian's lap.

Initially, Frisco ISD could not offer more than six tickets per graduate due to occupancy restrictions and the size of our graduating classes. Since the removal of state orders, the District has worked with officials at The Star to evaluate COVID-19 case numbers, venue capacity and the opportunity for social distancing. Frisco ISD presented a proposal to allow up to 10 tickets per graduate, which was reviewed and approved by the venue.

Each graduate will receive an email on Wednesday, May 5 with ticket access codes to distribute to family and friends. There will be no physical tickets; tickets will be accessed digitally via the AXS Tickets mobile app.

Shuttles will not be necessary for graduations at Ford Center at The Star as there is parking available. Both graduates and guests will need to provide their own transportation for graduation ceremonies. View the map for designated parking areas and entry points for various individuals. Please consider parking, walking to the venue from the parking lot, getting through ticketing lines and finding a seat when making your plans. Each graduation ceremony will begin at its scheduled start time.

Doors will open one hour prior to each ceremony's scheduled start time. View the map for designated parking areas and entry points for various individuals.

Please review bag policy guidelines on the Ford Center website.

In addition to prohibited bags as listed on the Ford Center’s website, the following items are also not allowed: food or drink, signs on sticks, wrapped gifts, balloons, flowers or mono/bi/tri pod stands used for photography. Concessions and flowers will be sold on site during graduation ceremonies. Compact cameras (still only) are permitted inside Ford Center as long as their use does not interfere with the event or other guests’ enjoyment of the event.

All tickets will be general admission and seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The size of the venue provides opportunities for social distancing, and Frisco ISD encourages social distancing whenever possible. Certain seating areas throughout the facility will be marked as "social distancing sections" where FISD respectfully asks that guests distance from other households by at least six feet and wear a mask. Seating in these sections will also be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Yes. Each high school will provide specific information via campus communications regarding handicap seating and facility access. This map shows the look and location of the handicap-accessible entrance to the Ford Center. Wheelchair and companion seating is available on the concourse level, and wheelchair seats will be available adjacent to both the regular and social distancing sections.

Face coverings will be optional for graduating seniors and guests at all graduation ceremonies. Sections will be designated at the Ford Center at The Star for those wishing to remain masked and seated socially distanced from other households.

Graduation will be live streamed online and archived for later viewing. Links to watch each ceremony will be posted on this page closer to graduation. Ceremonies will not be streamed on the video board outside the venue.

In accordance with ongoing FISD disease mitigation protocols, staff will work to assist students in maintaining social distancing throughout commencement ceremonies. As a result, students will enter the facility and be ushered to their seats on the field inside the Ford Center in the order in which they arrive (graduates will provide their own transportation to the graduation ceremony). This process will allow social distancing to be maintained because there is not space to line students up in alphabetical order before going out onto the field and also maintain six feet of social distance. As a result of these safety measures, students will not be seated in alphabetical order and will not cross the stage in alphabetical order. They will be allowed to text their parents and/or friends and family who might be viewing in-person or via the livestream in order to let them know that they will soon be crossing the stage.

While we encourage all students to stay for the duration of the ceremony, students will be allowed to depart after they've received their diploma and taken their graduation photo if they so choose. If a student elects to leave the ceremony, they will be required to immediately exit the facility and meet family and/or friends outside. Individuals who elect to leave graduation ceremonies will not be able to re-enter the facility.

Graduates will exit the field and be ushered out directly onto the south plaza (the turf outside of the Ford Center). Graduates will not have access to the stands or breezeway areas following commencement ceremonies.
