Pre-K in FISD

Frisco ISD is excited to offer a full-day Pre-K program for children who are four years old on or before September 1 (including those who turn five after September 1). This program is designed to give children a strong foundation for Kindergarten and beyond through engaging, hands-on learning.

Classrooms are led by certified teachers and trained paraprofessionals, ensuring each child benefits from individualized support and high-quality instruction.


Choose the option below that best fits your family:

State-Funded Pre-K (Free for Qualifying Families)

The prekindergarten program is available for qualifying students who live within the Frisco ISD boundaries. Students must be at least 4 years of age on or before September 1 of the target school year to be eligible to apply and are strongly encouraged to be potty trained. This program is offered at the Early Childhood School and select FISD campuses. Placement is determined based on zoning and space availability at the time of enrollment.

In addition, Pre-K students must meet at least one of the following eligibilities without exception:

Limited English Proficient: The child’s English proficiency is limited due to another language spoken in the home.

  • The state requires that students who potentially qualify due to a limited ability to speak or comprehend English will require a language assessment. Administration of language proficiency assessments will begin in June and continue as needed throughout the school year.

Low-Income: Parent must submit one of the following:

  • The last three current pay stubs for all household members.

  • Proof of child support payments (if applicable.)

  • If self-employed, the most recent tax return (Form 1040.)

  • A signed letter from an employer on company letterhead stating gross income and how often you are paid.

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility letter which must include: Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number, child’s legal name, parent’s name, and current dates.

  • Unemployment, Worker’s Compensation or Disability payment proof (eligibility letter or check stubs.)

  • We cannot accept W-2s or Medicaid benefits as income documentation.

Homeless: Families must meet the definition of homeless according to the McKinney-Vento Act.

Military: Must be a member of an active military family or be a member of an inactive military family whose parent was injured or killed during active military service.

  • Documentation is required.

Foster: A student is eligible if they have ever been in the foster care system within the United States.

  • Documentation is required.

Star of Texas: A student is eligible if their parent or guardian is eligible for the Star of Texas Award for peace officers, firefighters and emergency medical first responders. For the student to be eligible, the parent must have been deemed eligible for the Star of Texas Award between 2004 and the current year of the award ceremony.

Tuition-Based Pre-K

Frisco ISD offers a tuition-based option for in-district families of 4-year-olds who do not meet the eligibility requirements for the state-funded program. This gives more students the opportunity to experience high-quality Pre-K and build a strong foundation for Kindergarten.

Eligibility Requirements

To enroll, students must:

  • Live within Frisco ISD boundaries

  • Be 4 years old on or before September 1 of the school year (including children who turn 5 after September 1)

  • Be potty trained

Program Details

  • Schedule:

    • Elementary campuses: 7:45 a.m.–3:05 p.m.

    • Early Childhood School: 7:40 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

  • Tuition: $678/month

  • October 6: Tuition-based Pre-K classes begin.

  • Campuses: Offered at select elementary campuses

  • Curriculum: Aligned with the Texas Pre-K Guidelines and written by FISD educators

  • Instructional Staff: Each classroom is led by a certified teacher and supported by a trained paraprofessional

Not in Frisco ISD?

Tuition-based Pre-K is not currently available to out-of-district families. However, you may submit an interest form to be notified if space becomes available.
