Bright Academy offers a unique style of teaching and learning to increase students’ understanding of global issues, languages and cultures. The curriculum integrates knowledge and skills from multiple subject areas in hands-on lessons designed to help students make connections to the real world. This transdisciplinary approach emphasizes in-depth, collaborative inquiry and essential skills such as critical and creative thinking, communication and problem solving.

Bright Academy features:

  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), The District is in a candidacy phase as of June 2018 and is working towards authorization for 2021. 

  • Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch, a pre-career and technical education program focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)

  • Spanish language enrichment for all students in grades K-5

  • One-to-one technology ratio and additional technology resources 

  • Additional professional staff to support inquiry-based instruction and enrichment

  • Teachers specifically selected from across FISD to teach in an innovative, interdisciplinary environment and supported with high levels of training

  • A redesigned library, with the addition of a makerspace

  • New collaborative learning spaces, including flexible seating and furniture

Parents who live in Frisco ISD and will have students entering grades K-5 in the 2020-21 school year are invited to attend one of the following information sessions to learn more about Bright Academy:

  • Thursday, January 23, 2020 – 6 to 7 p.m. at Trent Middle School, 13131 Coleto Creek Dr, Frisco, TX 75033

  • Tuesday, February 4, 2020 – 6 to 7 p.m. at Lawler Middle School, 12921 Rolater Rd, Frisco, TX 75035


Bright Academy automatically enrolls students who live in the Bright attendance zone.

Elementary students from across Frisco ISD may submit an admissions form to express interest in attending the school. Students will be randomly selected for enrollment using a lottery process based on the number of seats available. The number of seats available may vary based on the interest within the Bright attendance zone.

The admissions form for students entering grades 1-5 in the 2020-21 school year will go live on this website on February 17, 2020 and runs through March 6, 2020.

The admissions form for students entering kindergarten in the 2020-21 school year will go live on April 10, 2020 and runs through April 24, 2020. This admission period falls during kindergarten round-up, which families will need to complete BEFORE completing the Bright Academy admissions form as a student ID number is necessary to complete the admissions process.
