Frequently Asked Questions

If I have any questions about the registration process, who do I contact?

Email FriscoFlex@friscoisd.org

Is this the same as free Flex courses?

No. Students may take certain Flex courses during the school day at no cost. The 9th course option is an additional course outside the school day and requires a fee.

What if my request is denied?

9th courses will be approved based on regular scheduling guidelines (prerequisites, grade level requirements, allowed pathways, etc.) from the FISD course catalog and Academic Guide. Students will receive an email with approval/denial information after the registration request is reviewed. Students can contact their high school counselor if more information is needed." Requests may be denied if prerequisites are not met or the course does not align with your academic plan. Students should contact their counselor for more information.

Can I take more than one course?

Students may request up to one full-year course or a maximum of two single-semester courses, based on availability and counselor approval.

When is the last day a student can drop a 9th course, and are there any academic or financial implications?

We will follow the guidelines listed in the FISD Course Catalog and the Academic Guide. These courses are non-refundable.

Will a 9th course impact my GPA?

Yes. A Frisco Flex 9th course is part of your official academic record and will be included in your GPA, just like courses taken during the regular school day.

Grades earned in a 9th course follow the same grading and weighting guidelines as other Frisco ISD courses. Because this is an additional course, it may provide an opportunity to strengthen your GPA, depending on your performance.

Review the High School Academic Guide and online course catalog for complete GPA and course information.
