Staley Updates

• A minor refresh ($19.6 million)

• Retiring Staley at the end of the 2025–26 school year

A key consideration as discussions move forward is the need for extensive, costly plumbing repairs that would affect the entire campus and possibly displace students for one and two years.

At the Board workshop, Trustees also reviewed an additional demographic report received this summer, which shows enrollment is expected to decline across the District — another important factor in the decision-making process.

If Staley is retired and rezoning becomes necessary, Trent, Griffin, and Hunt middle schools are the likely receiving campuses. A draft map of possible new boundaries was shared during the presentation.

What’s next

• Mid-September: FISD will receive updated enrollment projections for 2025-26.

• Sept. 15 Board meeting: Community can ask questions; formal recommendation presented

• Sept. 29 Community Input Meeting at Lone Star High School

• Oct. 20 Board meeting: Trustees will vote on Staley’s future.
