Legacy Transfer
Students who attended a Frisco ISD campus for the entire previous academic year and were permanent residents of the District during that time may be eligible for a Legacy Transfer to stay at their current campus for the upcoming school year.
Example: To apply for the 2025–26 school year, the student must have attended an FISD school for the entire 2024–25 school year.
Legacy Transfers are open to students in grades Pre-K4 through 12. This option applies if:
-
The student moves outside the Frisco ISD boundary
-
The student moves to another campus zone within Frisco ISD (Stay-Put Transfer)
-

To submit a student Legacy Transfer request the student must be registered and have a Student ID with Frisco ISD and the parent/guardian must have created their Portal account.
For Consideration
The Administrative Transfer Guidelines will be a helpful resource when choosing to keep your child to Frisco ISD via a Legacy Transfer.
-
If a Legacy Transfer student moves out of the District after the transfer window closes, they may stay for the rest of the current school year. To return the next year, they must submit a Legacy Transfer request at least two weeks before the first day of school and still meet eligibility requirements.
-
If a Legacy Transfer student’s campus is rezoned, the student will be moved to the campus for their most recent District address. They can stay at that new campus through the final grade level offered, as long as they follow District rules and their transfer agreement.
-
When a Legacy Transfer student finishes the highest grade at their current campus, they must submit a new Legacy Transfer request to stay in the District. Requests must be submitted during the annual transfer window and meet Access Frisco eligibility.
-
High school: Legacy Transfer students should be aware that high school transfers may prohibit a student from immediately participating in varsity level activities that base eligibility upon established residence, including UIL and other residence-based activities.
While Frisco ISD extends transfer opportunities for students in and out of district boundaries, the District maintains high expectations for these students. Transfers are a privilege, not a right. Learn about District-Initiated Transfer Withdrawals.
