Course Offerings

Original Credit

Original Credit Courses: Students can register to take certain high school courses that are designed for students seeking to accelerate their credit requirements for graduation. These courses are available to students who will be in grades 9-12 during the 2021-22 school year based the guidelines outlined for each course in the 2021-22 Academic Guide and Course Catalog. Starting with the FISD Class of 2024, all Summer School courses, including original credit, will be factored into a student's GPA. Students may take up to 2 courses plus virtual tests. Students may only take one .5 credit of World Language with the time constraint. 

All courses must be approved by the student's campus counselor/administrator

*Note:  Students registering for either Business Information Management or Medical Terminology for advancement will be required to sign-up for both semesters

Credit Recovery

Credit Recovery Courses: These courses are designed for students who previously failed a semester or the entire year of a course and need to recover the credit. Students taking courses for credit recovery purposes will have access to a FISD teacher. For the FISD Class of 2023, Summer School credit recovery courses will be factored into a student's GPA.

*Note: Only a semester of Spanish 1 or Spanish 2 will be offered for students, who failed the first or second semester of their Spanish course.  Students who failed both semesters will need to retake the course in a class next year, or choose an alternative course that will meet the foreign language requirement for graduation. Please remember, summer school semester courses cannot be substituted for a student that has failed both semesters in order to achieve an overall passing average. Students who failed one semester, but still average-passed for the year based on the final, overall score, will NOT need to retake the failed semester.

**Any middle school student who fails both semesters of Algebra 1 will not be eligible for credit recovery through Summer School.  These students will need to sit in a classroom course again next school year.

Virtual Test Prep

 Virtual Test Prep Courses: Students may also take certain test prep courses that are designed for students seeking to prepare for exams. These courses are available to students who will be in grades 10-12 during the 2021-22 school year.

These courses are NOT monitored by a FISD teacher. Students work at their own pace, place, and will have access to the virtual tutor for one calendar year.
