Thanks to the bond program approved by voters in 2018, all Frisco ISD students have mobile devices available to them. These devices allow all students to engage in rigorous and personalized learning experiences. Our network firewall and filter is one way we strive to protect our students as they engage in online learning experiences. We believe teaching students about digital citizenship is a partnership among staff, students and parents.
Pre-Kindergarten, kindergarten and 1st grade have a class set of iPads that remain in the classroom. Students in grades 2-5 have a class set of Chromebooks that remain in the classroom.
All devices are filtered and monitored using a District-owned filter and management software.
Middle school students will receive a Chromebook laptop for use at school and at home.
In order for a student to receive the device the guardian will sign that they have read the Guardian Acknowledgement and “1:1 In the Middle” Handbook through the annual registration process. The student will complete an online training course one time or view a review video of the course content which includes information on digital citizenship, device card and responsible use of the device
The goal of 1:1 In the Middle is to connect all students with learning resources outside the four walls of the classroom. The Chromebook will go home each night and be expected back to school the following day charged and ready for learning.
Students will check the device back into the school prior to leaving for the summer break or upon leaving the Frisco ISD.
The student Chromebook is filtered and monitored both on and off campus using a District-owned filter and management software.
Texas House Bill 1481 requires school districts to adopt a policy prohibiting student use of personal communication devices during the school day and to establish disciplinary measures for violations.
Beginning August 13, 2025, Frisco ISD students will not be permitted to use personal communication devices during the school day, including passing periods and lunches. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is now prohibited.
All high school students should participate in the “1 For All” program. Each student is assigned a convertible Chromebook and a charger. The 1 For All program allows for students to receive timely troubleshooting and repairs on the district issued device, experience ease of use during online testing, and to keep costs at a minimum for families.
To be eligible to receive the device, the student must complete the "Frisco ISD 1 for All High School Student Course" in Canvas and pay the one-time non-refundable $20 insurance fee. Additionally, the guardian will sign that they have read the Guardian Acknowledgment and 1forAll Handbook through the annual Registration process.
The student Chromebook is filtered and monitored both on and off campus using a District-owned filter and management software.
