The Texas Art Education Association has named Frisco ISD a District of Distinction for the eighth consecutive year, again recognizing FISD’s exceptional visual arts instruction.

Over 1,200 districts and learning institutions in Texas were eligible to apply for this prestigious award, and FISD is among the top 1% of programs that received recognition. Frisco ISD is one of only a few districts in the entire state to have received this distinction all eight years of its existence.

In 2025-26, Frisco ISD had 89 visual arts educators teaching 31,003 students enrolled in art programs.

“Being recognized for this distinction is a testament to the incredible work our visual art educators pour into the lives of each student they serve,” fine arts coordinator Michael Hollomon said. “Our community believes in visual arts because they see the difference it makes in the lives of students. They see the creativity, confidence, problem solving and joy that our educators help develop every day.”

TAEA is the leading advocate for the visual arts in the state. The organization has previously honored outstanding Frisco ISD visual art instructors for work in their classrooms and districts as well as recognizing the exceptional work of many individual Frisco ISD students.

Visual art students from Frisco excel through many TAEA-sponsored artistic contests such as VASE, Junior VASE and TEAM. In addition, Frisco ISD students engage in artistic field experiences, community service and community exhibitions, including an annual series of vertical art shows highlighting artists in each high school feeder pattern.

Congratulations to Frisco ISD visual arts teachers, who continue to inspire students of all ages and skill levels. Frisco ISD will be honored at an upcoming TAEA conference.
