Kaira Ananya Ganesh, a fifth grader at Wortham Intermediate in 2025-26, won gold for Team USA in the Under-11 Girls Blitz category at the 2026 Pan American Youth Chess Championship held in El Salvador last month. She was the only girl from Texas to bring home a gold medal.
Jay Dangar, a student at Talley Elementary, ranked 12th nationally out of more than 60,000 participants in the 2026 Math Kangaroo competition and earned a Silver Medal in the Russian School of Mathematics International Math Contest.
