Frisco ISD has extended its innovative partnership with Collin College to include a two-year, project-based learning program.
Starting in the 2026-27 school year, Collin EDGE will give FISD students the opportunity to take four semesters of college courses while earning their high school diploma, blending rigorous academics with real-world problem solving.
EDGE stands for Experiential, Dual Credit, Growth and Exploration. At the heart of EDGE is a commitment to project-based learning, where students engage in inquiry to address complex challenges.
“At Frisco ISD, we’re constantly exploring new and innovative paths to help students build their futures,” said Dr. Christy Fiori, chief academic officer. “Collin College has met that vision with a dynamic option that not only prepares students to be collaborators and critical thinkers, but will save families on tuition and ensure students are truly ready for the demands of college.”
The introduction of Collin EDGE coincides with the end of UNT North Texas NOW, a four-semester program introduced by FISD and UNT in 2020. Students currently enrolled in North Texas Now! will continue to receive the same level of support and instruction as they complete the program, but no new students will be enrolled. Why choose Collin EDGE?
Collin EDGE gives juniors and seniors the opportunity to complete the full 44-hour Texas Core Curriculum before high school graduation. Students participate in small, cohort-based classes with access to Collin College resources and faculty.
Hands-on, interdisciplinary projects allow students to apply what they’ve learned in interesting ways, building portfolios, resumes and future-ready skills along the way. These experiences strengthen each student’s ability to communicate and collaborate, preparing them for a wide variety of majors and career fields.
With Collin EDGE, Frisco ISD students won’t just complete courses — they’ll transform their approach to learning.
