And suddenly, it’s the final week.
The final week of the volleyball regular season, which started in mid-August and has raced to where we are now, with teams making a final push for the playoffs. If the playoffs were to start today, seven FISD teams would make it to the brackets: Reedy and Lone Star from District 6-5A; Memorial, Centennial, Liberty and Frisco from 11-5A; and Wakeland from 5-6A.
But a lot can change in the last week, and that starts with matches on Tuesday (Oct. 20). In District 6-5A, Panther Creek, which still has a chance at the playoffs, takes on Lone Star. And in 11-5A, Emerson and Independence, teams clinging to playoff hopes, will have make-or-break matches – Emerson against Heritage and Independence against Liberty.
In short, Tuesday looks like a fun night for volleyball.
