Frisco ISD is expanding transportation options for families with the introduction of fare-based busing, a new service that gives eligible students who do not qualify for regular, District-provided transportation the opportunity to ride an existing school bus route when space is available.

Fare-based busing makes use of available seats on current routes, offering families additional flexibility while making responsible use of District resources.

The new service will be available at select campuses and is subject to capacity. Routes and stops will remain unchanged, allowing the District to offer this additional service within its existing transportation schedule.

How to apply

Families can complete the fare-based busing application form starting Monday, Nov. 2, and should allow up to 10 business days for staff to process the application and determine eligibility. Families will receive an email notifying them whether their application is approved or denied.

Students must attend a school within their assigned, Board-approved attendance boundary to be eligible.

What happens next

Families whose applications are approved will receive instructions to pay the applicable fee through Online School Fees. Once payment is complete, routing information can be accessed through My Ride K-12.

Families will pay a nonrefundable fee of $500/student or $175/student on the free and reduced meal program for 2026-27 busing service.
