Three Frisco ISD theater programs are moving on to the next round of the UIL One-Act Play Contest after strong performances at Bi-District.

What began as a showcase of talent from 12 high school programs has now narrowed to Centennial and Lebanon Trail in 5A, along with Panther Creek in 4A.

During the contest, each company has seven minutes to set up before performing an 18- to 40-minute play in front of a panel of adjudicators and a live audience. After, each company has seven minutes to strike their scenic elements. At the conclusion of the event, awards are announced and a judge gives an oral critique with positive and constructive feedback to each of the schools.

The competition season has already included several rounds — Zone, District and Bi-District. If the companies perform well at Area contests April 10-11, they will be invited to the Region competitions April 23 and 25, and possibly the State competitions in May.

At each level of competition, a judge awards individual acting awards as well as selects productions to advance to the next level of competition.

With 12 theater programs across 12 high schools, Frisco ISD creates more opportunities for students to have standout performances, reflecting the strength of the student opportunity model.

Congratulations to these programs and performers advancing to the Area One-Act Play Contest.
