When it comes to spelling, Frisco ISD has some of the brightest minds in North Texas. And last fall, they began the process to become the best in the country.
Every year, FISD elementary and middle schools host campus spelling bees to determine which students will participate in the District-wide bee in January. From there, FISD’s top spellers go on to compete in the Collin County bee. Winners there move on to the Dallas regional bee, then to nationals.
The District-wide competition was held this month at Panther Creek High School and featured 57 third- through eighth-grade spellers from across FISD. The bee lasted an intense eight rounds, at the end of which six spellers were left standing. They will represent Frisco ISD at the Collin County bee Feb. 5 at Plano Senior High School.
