Wester Embraces Performance-Based Assessments
Wester Middle School Integrated Language Arts teachers are taking learning to another level through performance-based assessments! They are implementing engaging lessons that are real-world related and applicable while keeping the District's Profile of a Future-Ready Learner at the forefront of their planning. As a result, the learning experiences are more memorable than ever!
Whether students are presenting personal memoirs to their peers or collaborating on scripts related to their informational essays, students are constantly asking for more performance-based learning and assessment opportunities. Teachers have found that
it brings students together in a collaborative and encouraging environment. Keep up the great work!
Fowler Choir Embraces Everyone
Fowler Middle School Choir Director Vanessa Glover frequently looks for new ways to expand the choral program to ensure all students feel welcome. This year, she has worked with special education teachers and their students to create a special ensemble
performance made up of students served by special education and their “partner” choir students. They worked for weeks learning how to sing in an ensemble and their performance at the winter concert completely stole the show! Students
of all abilities are always encouraged to join fine arts programs across the District, but this unique center-stage experience was memorable for the Singing Falcons and audience members alike.
