It is no secret that Frisco ISD staff go above and beyond each day to serve students and their colleagues. Each month, the District recognizes two staff members in non-teaching roles with Standing Ovation awards for
their incredible work and dedication to the District.
This month’s winners Thais Costa and Tracy Wilson were nominated by their peers for consistently being calm, kind, consistent, helpful and knowledgeable. As winners, Costa and Wilson were surprised by a visit from Superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip
and Executive Director of Special Education Garret Jackson. They will also be honored at a special event in the spring.
Thais Costa, Resource Paraprofessional at Sem Elementary
Costa is a pillar of Sem Elementary with her contagious, quiet smile. The joy that she brings daily to both the students and staff is legendary around campus. She is flexible and understanding, and always willing to help at any time. Students and staff
report that she is an extraordinary person who sheds a positive light on the campus daily.
She spends most of her day patiently supporting several students who receive special education support one-on-one. Students eagerly await her arrival and are clearly excited to work with her when she arrives in the classroom to support them. Her colleagues
know they can count on her to assist in any way at any time and they are thankful for her dependability and her big heart. Sem Elementary is a wonderful place to work thanks to people like her.
Tracy Wilson, Resource Paraprofessional at Ashley Elementary
Wilson is a warm and positive individual who provides amazing support to many students at Ashley Elementary. She goes above and beyond by not only helping her assigned special education students but also all students in the classroom who need support.
She consistently plays on students' strengths and always does it in a caring and positive way.
Wilson has a fantastic rapport with students and they always look forward to her coming into their classrooms. She truly bonds with each of her students and always has the students' best interests at heart. Day in and day out, Wilson embodies the FISD
special education motto of "providing a supportive and inclusive environment that empowers each student to achieve their potential." Ashley staff and students count themselves extremely lucky to have her as a part of the campus.
