Wakeland, Reedy Volleyball Advance to Regional Tournament

The Wakeland and Reedy high school volleyball teams are headed to the Class 5A Region 2 tournament this weekend at Prosper ISD's Rock Hill High School.

The semifinals are on Friday (Nov. 11), featuring Reedy (25-13) taking on McKinney North (25-9) at 5 p.m. and Wakeland (32-4) taking on three-time defending state champion Lovejoy (27-14) at 7 p.m. The winners of the semifinals will play Saturday at 1 p.m. in the region championship match (also at Rock Hill).

The region winner advances to next week's UIL state tournament at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland. The 5A state semifinal matches will be Friday, Nov. 18 and the championship match will be Saturday, Nov. 19.

Reedy was a regional finalist last year and Wakeland was a regional quarterfinalist. Each of the team's playoff runs was ended by Lovejoy on its way to a third straight state title.

5 p.m.: Reedy v. McKinney North, 5 p.m.

7 p.m.: Wakeland v. Lovejoy, 7 p.m.

Saturday's championship:

1 p.m.
