Reedy and Memorial Student Place at National Entrepreneurship Contest

Congratulations to passionate artists and entrepreneurs Sajani Silla (Reedy) and Stephanie Gallagher (Memorial) for placing 2nd in the country in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy National Championship. The achievement comes with a cash prize of $2,500 and a $25,000 scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology. Heritage Cellists to Play in Vienna

Later this summer, Heritage High School cellists Sarvani Durbhakula and Chloe Mak will have the opportunity of a lifetime when they perform at the world-renowned Musikverein concert hall in Vienna, Austria. After being nominated by a teacher, Durbhakula and Mak completed an audition which was reviewed by a board of professional musicians. 

As Finalists, Durbhakula and Mak were granted the honor of performing in the elite Honors Performance under the direction of conductor and composer, Kirt Mozier. They will rehearse and interact with other Finalists from across the world and their final performance will take place in August. Congratulations!

FISD Students Appointed to U.S. Service Academies

Area members of Congress recently announced the appointments to the U.S. Service Academies and included several students from Frisco ISD. Frisco ISD has students headed to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy. Congratulations to all of these students and best of luck on your future endeavors.

Independence Student Named FFA Ambassador

Independence High School incoming senior Liliana Hunt has been selected to serve as a Texas FFA Foundation Ambassador at the 94th Annual Texas FFA Convention that will take place later this summer. Hunt is one of 70 FFA members chosen to participate in the Foundation Ambassador program and will serve as an official liaison to sponsors, special guests and dignitaries. Hunt applied through a competitive application process and will participate in an extensive two-day training specifically focusing on donor relations, personal skills development and professional networking. 

Students Place at Destination Imagination Global Finals

Congratulations to the student teams that placed at the Destination Imagination Global finals recently in Kansas City, Missouri!

“The All Stars” team secured first place in the fine arts challenge! The team included Kavya Desai (Nelson), Om Joshi (Vandeventer), Diya Kadakia (Roach), Aarav Patel (Nelson) and Taarini Singhal (Lawler).

Heritage High School’s Destination Imagination team competed in the Fine Arts Challenge and finished in 11th place. The team included Sarayu Arroju, Meghana Chodavarapu, Srivibha Kolanupaka, Mugilarasi Shiva Kumar, Anshu Nandre and Neha Vivek. 

Corbell Elementary’s “Legendary Racers” placed 13th in the engineering challenge. Team members included Robert Canales, Kashvi Jain, Varish Jayanti, Ruben Lobato Mecinas, Adiv Narnepati and Saanvi Sadasiva.

The “Goal Diggers” team competed in the Improvisational Challenge and was made up of students from Stafford Middle School and Reedy and Lone Star high schools. Sachchit Balamurugan, Vishant Baskar, Sanjith Chandran, Arjun Ashok Kumar, Aadarsh Venkat Ramanan, Amal Sameel and Nithin Senthilkumar earned a 13th place finish. Access the full results.
