Frisco ISD track and field athletes competed in regional meets on Friday and Saturday (April 29-30) and eight athletes won individual titles and even more qualified for the UIL state championships.
The highest-finishing FISD team was the Liberty girls, who tied for fourth at the 5A Region II meet in Arlington. Memorial and Lone Star tied for eighth in the 5A-II girls standings and Independence tied for 10th. In the boys 5A-II team standings, Heritage was seventh, Reedy was eighth and Frisco and Liberty tied for ninth.
Emerson, which opened this year as FISD’s 11th high school and currently only has freshmen and sophomores, earned its first state berth. The Emerson boys 4x200 relay team finished second at the 4A Region II meet in Commerce to advance to state.

The UIL State Track and Field Championships are scheduled for May 12 (4A) and May 13 (5A) at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

1600: Garrick Spieler, Reedy (4:21.66)
3200: Nati Enright, Wakeland (9:30.29)
High jump: Hannah Pfiffner, Wakeland (5-9)
Long jump: Falyn Lott, Memorial (18-7)
Triple jump: Hannah Forde, Lone Star (41-0 ¼)
300 hurdles: Kirin Chacchia, Heritage (42.74)
