Showing the depth of Frisco ISD’s swimmers and divers, there will be an FISD-record 91 student-athletes heading to Austin this week for the UIL State Meet in Austin.
The 91 FISD student-athletes, which includes alternates, will be at the meet Friday and Saturday (Feb. 18-19) at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. The swimming and diving preliminaries are on Friday and the finals begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
The Wakeland boys are the defending 5A state champions and earlier this month won the 5A Region III championship. At last year’s state meet, FISD athletes won three individual state championships and earned medals in 13 events. Wakeland’s title last year was FISD’s seventh state team swimming and diving championship since 2005.
