Seniors Tour and Celebrate Frisco ISD

Dec 15, 2021

2021 Bus Tour GroupAfter a brief pandemic hiatus, the District was thrilled to invite seasoned community members to the annual Senior Bus Tour and Luncheon earlier this month. This year’s event was sponsored by Parkview in Frisco, a longtime partner of the District.

“This is one of our favorite events of the year!” said Allison Miller, director of community relations and Frisco Education Foundation. “We are thrilled to provide seniors the opportunity to visit campuses and engage with students, teachers and staff.

“Our senior community has given so much to the District and we want them to know that there are always new ways to get involved with FISD.”

The morning started with a light breakfast and coffee donated by Starbucks in Frisco, a senior lifestyle community, where Superintendent Dr. Mike Waldrip welcomed and thanked the seniors in attendance for their dedication to the community.

Over the course of the day, seniors had the opportunity to tour Smith and Curtsinger elementary schools and Emerson High School before going to the new FISD Athletic offices for a preview of the Hall of Honor and a luncheon.

In attendance at the luncheon were more than 60 seniors and their guests, members of the Board and Instructional Support Team. They were treated to an exquisite buffet lunch prepared by the chef at Parkview in Frisco and a performance by the Staley Middle School band.

At the end of the day, Linda and Don Longfellow paused to share their sentiment about the Senior Bus Tour and Luncheon, saying that it was an incredible experience.

“It made our holiday. We loved it!” said Linda Longfellow. “The students and the campuses blew us away.”

2021 Senior LuncheonJim Brady agreed that it was hard to choose a favorite part of his day between the food, music and violinists.

Frisco ISD is thankful for the opportunity to share recent innovations in education and looks forward to hosting again next year!
