Organization Donates School Supply Bags
The District Community Relations team is thankful to the School of Islamic Sufism, M.T.O Shahmaghsoudi, for answering the call to meet the school supply needs of economically disadvantaged students across Frisco ISD. The organization donated 50 school supply bags filled with various items including a pencil pouch, notebook, crayons, map pencils, spiral, folder and binder.
M.T.O Shahmaghsoudi plans to frequently support students and staff around the District with various needs, under the guidance of District Community Outreach Liaison Sharon White. Students Attend Lone Star Leadership Academy
Students from across Frisco ISD attended a weeklong camp that allowed them to develop leadership skills while experiencing learning in school through visits to notable and historically significant Texas sites. Students were nominated by educators to participate based on leadership ability, academic success and community involvement.
The following schools sent students: Anderson Elementary, Clark Middle, Comstock Elementary, Fowler Middle, Gunstream Elementary, Isbell Elementary, Lawler Middle, Maus Middle, Nelson Middle, Pearson Middle, Pioneer Heritage Middle, Scoggins Middle, Stafford Middle, Trent Middle, Vandeventer Middle and Vaughn Elementary schools. Student Presented with Team Behind the Team Scholarship
Congratulations to Centennial High School senior Cannon Green, the recipient of the Frisco Bowl Team Behind the Team Scholarship Award presented by Town and Country Roofing. Green is a wide receiver for the campus football team and a member of the Centennial baseball team. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and loves to help charities in the Frisco community.
Students Recognized at State Solo & Ensemble
Several Frisco ISD students were selected as Outstanding Performers in the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Competition. Thousands of students compete in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Competition each year and qualify for this achievement by earning a Superior rating on their memorized solo. There were more than 25,000 students who participated in TSSEC this past year, with an estimated 250 selected as Outstanding Performer in the State of Texas.
Congratulations to these 12 FISD high school students who were named outstanding performers: James Li (cello) of Frisco; Allison Qiu (harp) of Centennial; Danielle Yoon (cello) at Independence; Wiley Liou (viola), Willa Liou (viola) and Yura Ahn (harp) of Lebanon Trail; Nailah Donatto (vocal), Megan Guidry (vocal) and Giselle Menezes (harp) of Liberty High School; Harvesst Aquino (keyboard) of Lone Star; Amelia Zhang (vocal) of Memorial and Manyaa Bhatia (piano) of Reedy High School.
Whataburger Truck Visits Early Childhood School
Last week, the Whataburger food truck visited the Early Childhood School to celebrate the beginning of the school year. Whataburger generously donated breakfast tacos along with several goodies including masks, hand sanitizer and zipper pouches. Thank you to Whataburger and all of the community businesses that donate to the campuses around Frisco ISD.
Student Nonprofit Featured in Local Publication
Congratulations to Independence High School senior Mihit Sai Garlanka who was featured in the Dallas Morning News regarding his nonprofit organization called Kids Within the Reach. The nonprofit offers STEM-related camps to raise money and awareness to fight child hunger. In the past year, Kids Within the Reach has collaborated with the Libraries of Love and the Gram Swaraj Seva Trust to provide milk to children in underserved populations in Uganda, Kenya and India.
