Dec 2020 Standing Ovation Winners

Congratulations to the latest FISD Standing Ovation Award winners Genevieve Tennant and Alyssa Ayala, both elementary school special education professionals. These women represent how the District is made #StrongerTogether with every single employee doing their part to know each child by name and need.

They were surprised by a visit from Superintendent Mike Waldrip this past week and will be recognized during Tuesday’s Board meeting as Frisco ISD’s December Standing Ovation Award winners.

Standing Ovation Award winners are nominated by their peers and are distinguished examples of the District’s non-teaching staff. Through their positive attitude and servant leadership, they are shining examples of employees who take initiative and do everything it takes for the benefit of students and staff.

Congratulations to these outstanding individuals!

Alyssa Ayala - Gunstream Elementary

Alyssa is a special education aide who is committed to her students and provides consistent individualized and differentiated instruction for the students she engages with. She strives to understand and meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all of her students and is always engaging, uplifting and encouraging. She responds to her student’s needs and adjusts accordingly as she prepares students for success in the futures that they will create. Alyssa cares deeply for her students and desires to be part of the quality education that they need and deserve. She is loved and adored by the entire Gunstream staff, parents and most importantly, her students.

Genevieve Tennant - Corbell Elementary

Genevieve is a special education aide who primarily supports one particular special education student within the general education classroom. She possesses natural skills as an educator which benefit students and inspire staff. She helps the student use a new eye gaze communication device that allows the student to participate throughout the school day. She troubleshoots and helps others learn how to use it, but most importantly, she has been vital in helping the student find their voice and learn how to use it throughout the day. She is known for her intuition and her student has blossomed with her guidance. Whether at carpool duty or at PTA events and spirit nights, Genevieve is a friendly ray of light to all students and staff and exemplifies commitment, kindness and collaboration.
