Coordinator Named Member of Esteemed Institute

Congratulations to Secondary Science Coordinator Dr. Derek McDowell, who was named a member of the National American Chemical Society Division of Chemical Education’s Examinations Institute. This appointment is an esteemed honor and the District is proud of his continued hard work and dedication to his craft.

DFW Asian-American Citizen Council Donates Masks

Asian-American Citizens Council Mask DonationThank you to the Asian-American Citizens’ Council and to the president of that organization Sammy Yang for donating 1,000 KN95 masks to FISD teachers and students. The District is grateful to community members who frequently look to donate their time and resources to support our school district.

Innovative Senior Seeks Virtual Learning Solutions

Congratulations to Lebanon Trail senior Elaine Yao, who created a program along with five other students called edPal, which is designed to help virtual students use one platform to access their varied assignments. Click here to learn more.

Liberty Teacher Awarded Scholarship

Liberty High School world languages teacher Patricia Flores is a recipient of a new scholarship from Canvas. Flores will participate in the Canvas Certified Educator program along with a cohort of other educators. This program allows educators to deepen their knowledge of the platform through hands-on experiences as they learn pedagogical best practices for online and blended learning.

High School Students Invited to Compete in Speech Competition

Nine Frisco ISD students have been selected to compete in the American Legion’s annual Oratorical Scholarship contest to be held later this year. Congratulations to students Autumn Kniering and Kristine Thomas of Reedy High School, Mario Kalteux and Aitana Isasi of Lebanon Trail High School, Harbani Kohli of Memorial High School, Lashita Soma of Heritage High School, Pranav Kalkunte of Independence High School, and Anmol Dubey and Reva Kabnurkar of Liberty High School. Best of luck to these students as they compete thanks to the opportunity through American Legion Posts 110 and 178.

District Purchasing Team Recognized by TASBO

The Texas Association of School Business Officials has recognized Frisco ISD with an Award of Merit for following best practices in the area of purchasing operations. FISD is one of only 53 educational organizations in Texas awarded for its commitment to professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services. The purchasing team will be honored at an awards reception in February at the TASBO annual conference.
