Each month, Frisco ISD recognizes employees who demonstrate servant leadership and are distinguished examples of non-teaching staff.
The Standing Ovation Award winners are nominated by their peers. Through their positive attitude and servant leadership, they are shining examples of employees who take initiative and consistently carry out responsibilities beyond their job requirements.
Congratulations to Elma Montenegro and Traci Simmons who were named winners of the September Standing Ovation Award.
Elma Montenegro supports our Spanish-speaking students and families within Frisco ISD in her role as the coordinator of student and family services and FISD La Visión. She consistently makes herself available to connect parents with schools and helps answer questions and share resources. She regularly seeks new ways to engage with the Spanish-speaking community, including the “Cafecito con La Visión” she hosted this summer, where more than 80 parents learned about the upcoming school year in their home language. Ms. Montenegro provides a valuable service to our district by ensuring that language and culture are not barriers for families and students in Frisco ISD to succeed. Thank you Elma Montenegro, a dependable advocate for families and a valuable asset to our community.
Traci Simmons works in transportation, where she is a champion of the Transportation Department’s field trip office. She has engaged District staff collaboratively in recent efforts to create revised written procedures and protocols for bus requests. She conquers each obstacle sent her way and works diligently to prepare for each game, event or other transportation need. Several thousand transportation requests flow into the field trip office each year and Traci is part of a great team that works together to safely transport FISD students on their study trips and extracurricular activities. In addition to this momentous task, she helped when the field trip office was reorganized to better serve our internal customers. Thank you to Traci Simmons for all the work she has done for the benefit of others through her commitment to the District Transportation Department.
These amazing women will be recognized by the Board of Trustees at the upcoming Board meeting on October 13, 2020.
The District is thankful for the insightful leadership and creative solutions they have provided to countless staff.
