Frisco ISD has been honored by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) with its Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting.
The award recognizes FISD’s 2019 Popular Annual Finance Report (PAFR), which is a shorter version of the District’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). Streamlined and easier to understand, the PAFR is designed to make complex financial information more accessible to the average citizen.
In order to be eligible for the PAFR award, Frisco ISD also had to receive GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the CAFR. The PAFR was reviewed by a group of judges based on the following categories: reader appeal, understandability, distribution methods, creativity and other elements.
The judges commended Frisco ISD for the report’s overall formatting and organization, including the use of charts and graphs that could be easily understood by readers who do not specialize in government accounting.
This was the first year Frisco ISD produced the shorter PAFR. It covers financial statements for the year ending June 30, 2019. Review the 2019 PAFR.
The Government Finance Officers Association works to advance excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 20,500 members and the communities they serve.
