Although it’s always exciting when a school year begins, the COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented situation in which Frisco ISD athletic programs must operate.
In following the guidelines from the Texas Education Agency and the University Interscholastic League regarding social distancing, the number of spectators allowed at FISD events will be far below venue capacities during the fall of 2020. With FISD required to put strict controls on attendance, the District will be unable to accept event admission passes of any kind until further notice.
For all middle school and varsity volleyball matches this fall, only parents of students who are eligible to participate – including athletes and cheerleaders -- will be given access to purchase tickets. The same will be true for middle school and high school football games other than at the varsity level. Because of the larger venues used for varsity football games, a limited number of seats will be available to fans after tickets are purchased by the family members of students participating in the event. (FISD staff members will be able to gain entrance at events at their home campus).
Football tickets will not go on sale until the week of the game, and more details on ticketing will be shared as the season gets closer. (The first day of football games is Sept. 24. A schedule of all varsity football games is here). There will be no season-ticket packages sold this year for varsity football.
Frisco ISD fans will have a new option for watching sports this fall as the District begins offering live video streams of nearly every sporting event held at Frisco ISD venues. The games will be streamed live on NFHS Network (NFHSNetwork.com) through a combination of traditional cameras and Pixellot automated cameras installed at FISD athletics facilities.
More information on the streaming broadcasts, as well as ticketing availability for varsity football games, will be shared as the season gets closer.
