HOSA Names Frisco ISD Students as Officers

Apr 09, 2020

Five Frisco ISD high school students have been named to leadership roles for HOSA - Future Health Professionals.

HOSA is an international career and technical student organization that is designed to develop future leaders in the health care system. It provides opportunities in networking, community service, goal-setting and leadership.

After taking a test, completing an application and interviewing with the current officers, HOSA invited five Frisco ISD students into leadership roles within the organization.

Congratulations to these students who have accepted HOSA officer positions.

  • Tom Punnen, Texas HOSA President, Liberty High School junior

  • Avi Mehta, Area 3 President, Centennial High School junior

  • Sriya Vaskarla, Area 3 Vice President, Centennial High School junior

  • Sarah Ahmed, Area 3 Reporter, Liberty High School junior

  • Aishah Subedar, Area 3 Historian, Centennial High School junior

Punnen will serve on the Texas HOSA Officer Council where he is thrilled to be able to give back to the community.

“HOSA has given me so many opportunities and wonderful experiences these past few years,” Punnen said. “I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to share my passion for health care with such a bright group of future health professionals and serve this amazing organization.”

Ahmed joined HOSA as a means to further her goals in the medical field.

“As a student-led club, students get a lot of say which allows them to take a step into the real world and start making impactful decisions,” Ahmed said. “It’s a club where you get to meet people that hold similar interests and is a great opportunity to make new friends!”

Notably, Punnen and Ahmed are the first Area and State HOSA officers ever elected from Liberty High School.

Congratulations to all of the students who continue to make strides to their goals through organizations like HOSA and to the students who have stepped into HOSA leadership positions.
