Student Journalists Take Home National, State Awards

Frisco ISD high school student journalists have recently been recognized in several contests both statewide and nationally.

JEA’s National Student Media Contest

Frisco ISD students were among the winners in the Fall 2019 National Student Media Contests in Washington, D.C. The contest included a record number of 2,126 student competitors in photo, broadcast, graphic design, literary magazine, design and writing contests. Click here for a full list of winners. National Scholastic Press Association National High School Journalism Awards

Heritage High School’s The Print Newsmagazine’s issue “Down to Earth” won First Place Best of Show in newsmagazine special edition and The Tribute 2019 Yearbook won Third Place Best of Show in small yearbooks at the National Scholastic Press Association awards at the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention in Washington, D.C. Association of Texas Photography Instructors Fall Contest 

Several Frisco ISD students also won awards at the Association of Texas Photography Instructors Fall Contest in November. The contest saw 6,954 entries from California, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas and Canada. Click here for a full list of winners.

Central Texas Journalism Invitational UIL Meet

High school students across Texas competed in the Central Texas Journalism Invitational UIL Meet in early December. The UIL sponsors five journalism contests - News Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Headline Writing and Copy Editing. Congratulations to these students who placed at the event:
