Congratulations to Heritage High School coach Trecey Hoover on being recognized as the CareNow Teacher of the Month by 94.9 KLTY.
Coach Hoover was nervous when she was called into Principal Dr. Katey Gray’s office for a quick meeting. Little did she know she was about to get a surprise call from the radio station with the award.
Hoover was shocked at the gesture and thankful for the recognition as the Teacher of the Month.
Hoover has been coaching for eight years and has spent the last two years at Heritage, where she coaches track and cross country.
Coach Hoover loves being part of the development of student-athletes as they find themselves and their place in the world.
“I just want to guide them in being the best person that they can be,” Hoover said.
“Coach Hoover is not only an amazing coach to our athletes, but she has also been an integral part of redesigning our PE program,” said Principal Gray. “We offer a robust PE program with options for all students at all ability levels. Our PE program offers something for everyone and Coach Hoover was a big part of that movement.”
“Additionally, Coach Hoover took it upon herself to spearhead our campus Sunshine Committee. She wanted to be able to recognize staff on a monthly basis with gifts and treats and she made that happen. We are a better school because of Coach Hoover.”
Coach Hoover was awarded a $200 Visa gift card, along with gift cards and passes for numerous restaurants and attractions in the community.
