Spears Classroom Teachers Awarded Money for Classroom

Spears Teachers Pose with $10,000 Burlington Check.Spears Elementary School will benefit from a $10,000 donation from Burlington Stores, Inc. The school was presented a large check during a staff meeting on May 8.

“It’s really important for us to make an immediate impact in the area around our new store,” Frisco store manager Sherrena Lee said. “We are thankful that y’all have invited us into your community.”

Principal Becca Bustillos has decided to divide the money up equally between classroom teachers.

Each teacher will receive $250 in an AdoptAClassroom.org account where they can purchase classroom supplies through the online marketplace that offers educational products from nearly 30 vendors.

“What a blessing and privilege to work in a district and community where partnerships really matter,” Bustillos said. “To be chosen as the recipient of Burlington’s $10,000 donation is such an honor and will allow our teachers the funding and flexibility to purchase additional supplies for their classroom!”

To say Spears teachers are thrilled is an understatement.

“This an extremely exciting surprise,” said Julie Wood, a second grade teacher. “It’s unbelievably generous and I know teachers will enjoy spending that money on items for the classroom.”

“Our teachers want nothing but the best for our students and this will definitely help,” Principal Bustillos added.

The Burlington store will have its grand opening the morning of May 17 at 2871 Preston Rd.
