All elementary visual art teachers submitted pieces of student art to be rated at the Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM) this spring.
TEAM is designed to provide a collegiate assessment for elementary art students based on the standards of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). This standards-based elementary art event uses the quality guidelines of VASE, the middle and high school competition while accommodating for the unique needs of young artists.
Jurors are experienced art educators who rate elementary students as exemplary, good or growing while keeping in mind their growth and learning styles.
TEAM provides juror feedback to students through two positive comments and one grow (constructive criticism) to help guide the student's literary and expressive process.
Across the District, 104 students received exemplary medals, while seven students were double medaled and rated Top of Team. Top of Team students represent the top 10% of all students.
