American Heart Association provides CPR kits to Frisco ISD

Nov 09, 2018

CPR Kit Training The The The American Heart Association recently donated 12 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) kits to Frisco ISD.

Each AHA CPR in Schools Training Kit includes everything needed to train 10 to 20 students at a time including:

  • Wheeled classroom carry bag
  • 10 Mini Anne Plus® inflatable manikins
  • 10 kneel mats
  • 10 individual carry bags
  • 5 practice-while-watching training DVDs
  • Hand pump for manikin inflation
  • 2 mesh collection and storage bags
  • 10 replacement airways
  • 50 manikin wipes
  • 10 replacement face masks
  • 10 automated external defibrillator (AED) training simulators
  • Facilitator binder that contains the lesson plan, pre-and- post-tests, additional supplementary material and a facilitator guide

All FISD sixth-grade students are expected to learn hands-only CPR. High school students are trained in CPR during health, a required course to meet graduation requirements. While campuses have had to share kits in the past, this generous donation from Wells Fargo and the American Heart Association officially places a CPR kit on all secondary campuses.

The AHA CPR in Schools Training Kit teaches students the core skills of CPR as well as AED skills and choking-relief techniques. CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival. In just 30 minutes, students can learn the skills and techniques to save a life.

By having kits on individual campuses, students have access to review the technique throughout the year while coaches and teachers can have access to it at any time.

"Having these kits on all secondary campuses ensures that our students can put practice into action," said Allison Ginn, FISD health coordinator. "Ongoing practice will make certain that CPR skills will become ingrained in students so that they are second nature."

Representatives from the American Heart Association visited Memorial High School to demonstrate proper CPR techniques, how to use the AED and the protocol to get help in a stressful situation using the CPR in Schools Training Kit.

Frisco ISD thanks the American Heart Association for the CPR kits to these campuses:
