Frisco ISD seeks volunteers to offer professional advice to more than 400 high school juniors and seniors involved in the Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) program.
ISM is a challenging course elective designed to help students explore their interests and prepare for the future. Over the course of the school year, students conduct research interviews, work with a mentor in a chosen career field and formally present a product based on what they have learned.
The beginning of each student's journey is the annual ISM Business Symposium. Volunteers are needed to conduct mock interviews, evaluate student resumes and help students build networking skills.
The event will be held in two sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Independence High School, 10555 Independence Parkway.
The morning session will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. and will feature students from Frisco, Heritage, Independence, Liberty and Memorial high schools.
The afternoon session will take place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and will feature students from Centennial, Lebanon Trail, Lone Star, Reedy and Wakeland high schools.
Business professionals and other adults may volunteer at one or both sessions. Lunch will be on your own during the break between sessions.
