Frisco Chamber of Commerce members brought a big pair of scissors and red ribbon to Meet the Teacher Night to help Bright Academy kick off the school year in style.
Principal Serita Dodson cut the ribbon as Frisco High School cheerleaders and band members built up excitement among students and teachers.
Frisco ISD is a longtime member of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and as partners, the District and Chamber routinely work together to welcome new teachers, support students and advocate for public education.
“Because the Chamber advocates on behalf of the Frisco business community, the ribbon cutting was a very powerful and symbolic way of demonstrating unity and support to all of the parents, students, staff and administration in attendance,” said Crystal Hahn, president of the Bright PTA.
Bright Academy is Frisco ISD’s first School of Choice. The elementary school, formerly known as Ida Lee Bright Elementary School, has been renamed Bright Academy and is beginning implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme. The academy also offers Spanish language enrichment and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch, a pre-career and technical education program designed for elementary students.
