Student Recognized Nationally for Entrepreneurship

Jul 12, 2018

GouziaGouzia Sivarajah, a rising junior at Heritage High School, continues to add to her accomplishments.

A graduate from the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), Sivarajah was recently awarded the Pioneer Entrepreneur Award from The Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA). FeTNA is a non-profit organization that aims “to cultivate, promote, foster, and develop the advancement of knowledge in Tamil language, literature, and culture.”

Sivarajah is the founder and CEO of Safety Integrated Innovation Technology (SIINO), a company that aims to improve the quality of life around the world by using advanced technology to create innovative products. She was profiled in FOCUS magazine in February 2018 for her first product, The Movement Aid for the Visually Impaired (MAVI). MAVI is a device that was created to assist people with low or no vision throughout their day-to-day lives. The device uses sensors to detect objects and other potential hazards up to 10 feet in front of the user; buzzing tones and vibrations alert the person of potential hazards.

The rising junior says that her family, along with mentors and teachers from the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) program, helped spark her success. YEA! is a 33-week program that grows students’ leadership and entrepreneurship skills. The program is very proud of Sivarajah and hopes that her success continues to inspire their other students. YEA! is now accepting applications for the new school year. For more information, please visit the Frisco Chamber of Commerce website.
