March 2018 Rotary Spotlight Students Honored

IHS Rotary Spotlight StudentsJohn Austin and Taylor Artis, both of Independence High School, were honored by the Frisco Rotary Club as the March Rotary Spotlight Students.

Both are strong students and share a love of ping pong. Austin is president of the school ping pong club and Artis serves as secretary.

Artis is the daughter of Bernard and Felecia Artis. An accomplished flute player and section leader, she comes to Frisco via Virginia and then Houston. She works at Hat Creek Burger Company.

This talented young lady will attend Iowa State University and is considering majoring in political science, economics or psychology. She is recipient of the George Washington Carver Scholarship.

Austin is the son of Glen and Tina Austin. A busy student, he serves as a student ambassador and is a gold medalist at Academic Decathlon state competition.

He has been a volunteer with the Clothe-A-Child project. Austin plans to major in finance and has not decided on which school to attend.
