School counselors from across Frisco ISD attended a resource fair Tuesday designed to connect them to community resources that could be helpful for students and families.
Approximately 45 businesses and organizations, including health providers and non-profits, shared information with counselors regarding their programs and services.
Participants included providers of mental health and counseling services, as well as groups who assist families with specific needs, such as coping with domestic violence, food insecurity or homelessness. There were also resources for drug and suicide prevention, LGBTQ support and treatment for eating disorders, among others.
Counselors often refer families to outside providers for additional support, therapy or treatment. Several counselors said they were grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the various organizations, many of which are new to the growing FISD community.
