FISD Athletes Shine at Area Track Meet

Heritage Boys' Track TeamFrisco ISD high schools sent more than 100 individual athletes and relay teams to the District 13-5A/14-5A Area track and field meet held Saturday, April 20 at Standridge Stadium in Carrollton. In the team standings, the Heritage High School boys won their second consecutive Area championship with the Liberty High School boys placing third. The Wakeland, Liberty and Heritage High School girls’ teams finished second, third and fourth respectively.

FISD had 15 individual athletes and one relay team crowned Area champions across 18 events. Overall, more than 60 individuals and relay teams are moving on to the Region II track and field meet to be held April 28-29 at UT Arlington.

The following FISD athletes were crowned Area champions in their respective events:


  • Kevin Burrell (Heritage) – 100m

  • Sal Guli (Wakeland) – Discus

  • Louis Hayes (Independence) – Long Jump

  • Nick Hendrix (Wakeland) – 3200m & 1600m

  • James Manders (Heritage) – Pole Vault

  • Nick Martinez (Frisco High) – 800m

  • Isaiah Palmer (Liberty) – 800m

  • Terry Smith (Independence) – 110m Hurdles & 300m Hurdles

  • Liberty 4x100m Relay team – Kevin Burrell, Amari Hackett, Jordan Jones, Daniel Lescay & Alex Poole


  • Victoria Altieri (Wakeland) – 300m Hurdles

  • Sanye Ford (Liberty) – Long Jump

  • Alyssa Gridiron (Heritage) – 100m

  • Nissi Kabongo (Liberty) – 800m & High Jump

  • Madyson Saulsberry (Independence) – Triple Jump

  • Chloe Taylor (Heritage) – Pole Vault

  • Simone Watkins (Frisco High) – 100m
