The Panther Creek swimming and diving teams won’t have any seniors until next season, but they are already piling up trophies and medals. Finishing up their first regional
meet Saturday at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium, the Panther Creek girls won the 4A Region 2 championship and the boys were the region runner-up, and together, they won 12 events.
The Panther Creek girls dominated the meet, piling up 400 points. Celina was a distant second in the girls standings with 103 points and Paris was third with 83. The Panther Creek boys scored 199 points to trail only Carrollton Ranchview (314) in the
team standings. Paris was third with 173 points.
Panther Creek freshman Avery Whorton was named the Girls Athlete of the Meet and Panther Creek junior Aidan Eckard was named the Boys Athlete of the Meet. Panther Creek’s Megan Conner was named the Girls and Boys Coach of the Meet.
Panther Creek, which opened for the 2022-23 school year as Frisco ISD’s 12th high school, will have a long list of qualifiers for the University Interscholastic League’s Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Meet, which will be held Feb. 9-10
at Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.
Panther Creek is FISD’s only 4A high school in the current UIL alignment. Swimmers and divers from the other 11 FISD high schools will compete in the 5A Region 3 meet Feb. 2-4 at the Bruce Eubanks Natatorium. The 5A state meet is Feb. 16-17 at the
Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.
