Reedy's 13-7 victory over Lone Star last week in the District 6-5A Division I opener pushed the Lions into the top five of the Dallas Morning News' 5A football rankings. Reedy has a lot of Frisco ISD company, joined by No. 6 Lone Star, No. 14 Frisco,
No. 19 Independence and No. 20 Emerson.
The ranking is the highest for Reedy since the 2018 season, when the Lions finished 13-1 and advanced four rounds in the playoffs. Lone Star, Frisco and Independence have made many appearances in the rankings over the years, but Emerson's spot in
the rankings is a first. This is the school's first year of varsity football, of course, and Emerson is the first FISD team to start its first varsity season with three straight wins.
In addition to the five Frisco ISD teams in the Dallas Morning News (SportsDayHS) 5A top 20, a pair of FISD teams also received votes but were just outside the top 20. Those teams were Heritage and the team it beat last week in its 6-5A Division I opener,
District 6-5A-I games continue this week, while District 3-5A Division II play (featuring FISD teams Emerson, Independence and Memorial) and District 7-4A Division I play (featuring Panther Creek) begins the following week.
