District Celebrates Dual Credit Success of the Class of 2022

Jun 16, 2022

Frisco ISD is proud of the Class of 2022 which included hundreds of students who graduated with college credit via dual credit and AP classes.

Notably, the Class of 2022 included the first UNT Now! dual credit graduating class. The cohort of 50 students completed a two year program pathway that resulted in 42 semester college credit hours, also known as core complete.

Thanks to dual credit partnerships with the University of North Texas and Collin College and AP courses, students have more opportunities than ever to get started on their college and career goals during high school.

Based on individual student interests, participation criteria and expectations of the programs, students select the dual credit options or AP classes that work best for them.

“We are thankful for the college partnerships who see the value in offering expanded opportunities to our high school students and are dedicated to supporting, celebrating and developing students,” said Tiffany Carey, the director of innovative learning. “We are proud of the collaborative nature of our partnerships.”

Students in the UNT Now! program earn the college core complete set of courses after two years of study spending half of their day on UNT's campus and half on their FISD campus. Students develop and sharpen skills in project management, collaborative thinking, data analysis, communication, creativity, decision-making and leadership.

While each student has their own reason to get started on college coursework in high school, their dedication to their studies is commendable.

Recent Lebanon Trail graduate Vannah Sales wants to be a doctor and was one of those students and earned 60 credits and an associate's degree through Collin College in December 2021. Check out her FISD Instagram feature.

“It’s really rewarding to graduate and have all of that done,” Sales said. “Managing my social, work and cheer life with school [was] difficult at some times, but it was really rewarding.”

Congratulations to all of these students who wore special cords during their high school graduation ceremonies in May acknowledging their incredible accomplishments. Graduates are starting as juniors in the fall and heading to colleges all over the country including NYU, Brown and several others.

Apply for UNT Now!

For the UNT Now! program, there is limited space available to current Frisco ISD incoming juniors who are graduating in 2024. Students can fill out a request to participate.

Unfortunately, the Collin College application has closed for the 2022-23 school year.

Class of 2022 Dual Credit Graduates

Congratulations to these 2022 graduates who completed the 2-year UNT Now! program with their college core complete, 42 semester credit hours. Students who earned 42 credits and met minimum entry requirements were also granted automatic admission to UNT. Access photos from the UNT Celebration of Success event.
