New Elective Meets Student Interest
More than 250 students in grades 10-12 are enrolled in African American Studies this school year. The course is offered as an elective at each Frisco ISD high school. Throughout the course, students are able to explore all aspects of African American history and culture that are of interest to them. Mexican American Studies, the District’s second ethnic studies course, will debut in the 2022-23 school year.

Students and Community Drive CTE Expansion
The Frisco ISD Career and Technical Education Center is set to receive a renovation and expansion that will allow the building to serve more students in new and existing programs. The School Board got a preview of the design at its January meeting. The campus allows students to explore future career paths and earn industry-based certifications. The project will include dedicated spaces for recently or soon-to-be added courses in cybersecurity, video game programming, esports, artificial intelligence and more.

School Board Honored by H-E-B for Strong Leadership
The Frisco ISD Board of Trustees is one of only five school boards from across Texas recognized by H-E-B for its strong leadership in the areas of academic/student progress and engaging with and meeting the needs of the community. The Excellence in Education Awards program, now in its 20th year, supports outstanding Texas public schools with recognition and cash prizes. As a finalist, the Board will receive a $5,000 check benefitting the District.

High School Students Selected for All-State Ensembles
Students from all 11 Frisco ISD high schools have been named to one of the elite Texas All-State Music Ensembles. Nearly 50 high school students advanced through the highly competitive audition process, which includes the District, Region and Area levels. This prestigious recognition is considered the highest individual honor a band, choir, jazz or orchestra student can achieve in Texas.

Learn More about New Online Learning Opportunities
Frisco ISD will host an additional webinar to introduce families to the District’s new online learning opportunities. The Jan. 26th event is another opportunity for incoming high school students to learn about these new options as they make course selections for the 2022-23 school year. FISD+ includes both a fully-online and hybrid learning option that allows students to participate in on-campus classes and UIL activities.
