Wrestling Season Heats Up with District Dual Matches

Wrestling thumbnail

Frisco ISD wrestling teams have been competing since well before the winter break, but this week the wrestling teams begin dual meets with their fellow District 8-5 members.

Unlike in most other sports in which Frisco ISD high schools are in District 9-5A, FISD schools compete in 8-5A for wrestling. The district includes all 11 FISD high schools, plus The Colony and Prosper Rock Hill.

Days and times for matches can be found on the District-wide athletics schedule. The matches lead up to the District 8-5A Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 4-5 at The Colony High School. The top wrestlers at the District meet qualify for the Region 2 Championships Feb. 11-12 at Memorial High School. The top wrestlers at region advance to the UIL State Wrestling Meet, which is Feb. 18-19 at the Berry Center in Cypress, a suburb of Houston.

Good luck to all the Frisco ISD wrestlers this winter!
