Reedy Volleyball Team's Best Season Ever Ends in Regional Final

The Reedy volleyball team's best season in school history ended with a thrilling match Saturday against defending 5A state champion Lovejoy. Reedy lost the 5A Region 2 championship match, but the Lions made perennial power Lovejoy work hard for the region title.

Lovejoy won 25-13, 25-19, 24-26, 29-27 to move on to the state tournament.

In the regional semifjnal on Friday, Reedy beat Highland Park, which was No. 2 in the 5A state rankings, in an exciting five-set match. The Lions won 18-25, 25-16, 25-20, 18-25, 15-11.

Reedy's tremendous run through the playoffs was the highlight of another season that showed just how good volleyball is in Frisco ISD. Wakeland was a regional quarterfinalist, and the District's other playoff teams, Heritage and Independence, performed well against tough teams in the first round.

For the first time in school history, the Reedy volleyball team is going to the regional tournament.

Reedy earned a spot in this week’s 5A Region 2 Tournament with a sweep of McKinney North in Tuesday’s regional quarterfinal round. Reedy won the match with set wins of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-23 to extend its season. Wakeland, Frisco ISD’s other regional quarterfinalist, lost to defending 5A state champion Lovejoy on Tuesday night.

Reedy’s Sadie Snow had 11 kills and Halle Schroder had 10 kiils in the win over McKinney North, as reported by the Dallas Morning News. The News also reported that Jordan Chapman had 18 assists for Reedy and Ella Gambler had 12 digs.

The Lions will next play Highland Park in a 5A Region 2 semifinal at 7 p.m. Friday at Prosper Rock Hill High School.
