On Saturday, Nov. 13, Frisco ISD and its librarians are excited to celebrate TREaT, a new District-wide event that aims to promote literacy while supporting local eateries and coffee shops.
TREaT, which stands for Together Reading Eating and Talking, is a one-day event that encourages Frisco ISD students, families and employees to bring something to read at participating businesses. While there, the community is encouraged to read and talk about what they are reading.
“Libraries are all about bringing people together, and we are excited to unite the community of Frisco ISD through this one-day event that celebrates the power of reading,” said Mindy Purcell, Frisco High School librarian. “Connecting over a shared enjoyment of reading, modeling reading and talking about reading are important parts of developing young learners.”
Area businesses have partnered with the District to offer specials and discounts to anyone who says they are in there in support of #treatfisd on Nov. 13. Students can also enter a District-wide contest by adding their campus name to the hashtag.
