Reedy, Heritage Volleyball Teams Set to Battle for Top Spot in District

Sep 16, 2021

The Reedy and Heritage volleyball teams have had a terrific run in the first three weeks of District 9-5A play, and on Friday, the district leaders will run into each other.

Heritage and Reedy, each 6-0 in district, will play Friday at Reedy. The varsity match is scheduled to begin at approximately 5:45 p.m.

In the best-of-5 sets format, neither Reedy nor Heritage has been pushed to five sets in 9-5A play. Reedy has swept all but one of its district opponents while Heritage has swept three of its six district opponents. The success has helped Reedy rise to No. 4 in the Dallas Morning News 5A rankings and Heritage is now listed as a team that “just missed the cut” of the top 10.

The winner will have sole possession of first place in one of the deepest volleyball districts in the state. For Reedy, which last year shared the District 9-5A title with Lebanon Trail, it would be another step toward a fourth playoff spot in five years. For Heritage, a victory will get it a step closer to its first postseason berth since 2012.

Best of luck to all FISD teams the rest of the season!
